Sudan Orphanage
Project description
The compound (construction work has already started around May 2009) will operate as secondary school with rooms for internal housing for the orphan students, a kitchen, dining hall, a mosque, a centre for teaching the Quran, a health centre, a computer room and physical activity space as well as toilets and sanitation facilities.
The importance of the project:
Emphasising the importance of developing a positive member of society, there is a need for comprehensive care of the orphans through distinguished learning environments conducive to better understanding and receipt of information.
The key to achieving this is to have a secondary school for exceptional orphan students that would supply them with special care in educational, academic and health issues in order to provide them with opportunities to secure a better future.
Location
Kasala city has been chosen as a place for the compound due to it being near areas with high number of orphans. Kasala city also has a strong infrastructure with its water, electricity and other services.
Beneficiaries of the project:
This project will benefit 250 orphans
Objectives:
1. To continue the care of orphans through their school years.
2. To ensure secondary school and university studies for the orphans when their support period terminates.
3. Linking the orphans to educational programmes enabling them to become responsible people.
4. To create a competitive environment between the orphans to achieve good results to enter this secondary school.

The foundation of the walls will be half a meter squared and made with bricks, pillared with a ceiling made of Zinc, which will be covered with various materials to keep the heat out. |
