In April 2008, UWT initiated this unique group weddings project in India and Bangladesh. Many poor people are unable to afford the dowry and the basic livelihood tools to support a family. In India, UWT funded 57 marriages. Similarly, in various towns and villages of Bangladesh, one hundred marriages were sponsored. UWT intends to expand this project as the lack of financial resources has led rich landlords to abuse the poor girls and enslave them.
