Sadaqatul Fitr otherwise known as Fitr or Fitrana is a special charity given to the poor people on the day of Eid. UWT has made arrangements for Fitr to be distributed to widows, orphans and the poor on Eid day according to the prescribed amount of weight. The rate fixed is £1.50 per person.

What is Sadaqatul Fitr?

Sadaqatul Fitr is enjoined on every Muslim and should be given before Eid, this is obligatory on every member of the family.

On such an auspicious and festive occasion as Ramadhan and Eid, Muslims are specially reminded of their obligations towards the poorer section of society. The contribution should be paid by the head of the family.

Sadaqatul Fitr should be paid so that the less fortunate among us are able to share in with the festivities. Fitrana is to be paid for every young or old member of the family. Its rates are fixed according to the prevailing rates of wheat and dates in various Muslim countries by Ulema (Islamic Scholars).

Price for Sadaqatul Fitr
Allah`s Messenger (pbuh) enjoined the payment of one Sa` of dates or one Sa` of barley as ‘Zakat-ul-Fitr’ on every Muslim, slave or free, male or female, young or old, and he (pbuh) ordered that it be paid before the people went out to offer the EId-ul-Fitr’ prayer. (Bukhari)
