A 50 KVA (Kilovolt-Ampere) 'F G Wilson' Generator can provide electricity for an entire Hospital. The cost of the entire project including installation is approximately £14,500.
Background
Gaza, April 9 2010, (Pal Telegraph) 'Engineer Kanaan Obaid, Vice President of the Palestinian Energy Authority, said this morning that the power plant in the Gaza Strip faced a complete shut down due to fuel and equipment shortage.'

Currently hospitals and the CMWU rely on emergency generators to maintain normal services.
A limited and diminishing supply of electricity to the Gaza Strip is placing ever increasing pressure on the delivery of basic services in health, education, water and sanitation to a growing Palestinian population. The current restrictions on the supply of fuel and the continuing ban on imports of spare parts and machinery exacerbates an already precarious network for the provision of these basic services and will lead, inevitably, to further decline in the standard of living for the residents of the Gaza Strip.
UWT has started purchasing Diesel generators that will provide an alternative energy source. The Diesel Generator will be used to support Mosques, NGOs, operational buildings as well as health clinics and Hospitals.

The humanitarian situation in Palestine is deteriorating to a new low due to the continuing crisis, brought about by the inhumane aggression and destruction of Palestinian infrastructure, especially in Gaza. Over 140,000 Palestinian civil servants, who support one million people, have been left without a salary. Those in Gaza have suffered the most and are facing daily shortages of food, water, electricity and medical supplies.
In September 2007, Israel declared Gaza 'hostile territory.' The declaration allowed Israel to prevent the transfer of electricity, fuel, and other supplies into Gaza. The stated purpose of this blockade was to pressure Hamas into ending the rocket attacks and to deprive them of the supplies necessary for the continuation of rocket attacks. Israels decision to cut fuel supplies to Gaza were widely condemned as 'collective punishment.'
By January 2008, the economic effects of Israels blockade on Gaza had reached a critical threshold, according to a United Nations study. Finally, on January 17, 2008, Israel sealed the border completely. On December 27, 2008, Israel launched airstrikes in Gaza. Over 1,314 killed (of whom 412 are children and 110 are women) and 5,300 injured (of whom 1,855 are chidren and 795 are women) by Israeli indiscriminate bombing of Gaza. A ceasefire from both sides came into force on 18th January 2009.
The number of Palestinian refugees by country as of 2005 were as follows:
* Jordan 1,827,877 refugees
* Gaza 986,034 refugees
* West Bank 699,817 refugees
* Syria 432,048 refugees
* Lebanon 404,170 refugees
* Saudi Arabia 240,000 refugees
* Egypt 70,245 refugees
