The Dzhamalov Family

    A Case Study from Chechnya

Husain and Malika live with their six children in the village of Sadovaya, Chechnya. A poor family, they have little money and no land (a plot of land costs approximately $6000). Some years ago, with the help of generous locals the family constructed a hut on the outskirts of the village - though this was done without authorization.

Ummah Welfare Trust fieldworkers came across the family during recent surveys for the distribution of winter clothing. They were living in their hut at the time.

Days later unfortunately, when staff came to deliver the clothing, they arrived to a burnt-down house. Everything was destroyed.

Alhamdulillah the family however was safe. Malika explained to fieldworkers that a fire occurred in the night but with the help of Allah they managed to escape through a window.

Malika, the mother, recently underwent a heart operation and Husein is terminally sick. With no income and little mobility, they stayed with neighbours for some time. They did apply to the village administration for help but their application was rejected.

Alhamdulillah it was with your generosity that Ummah Welfare Trust helped Malika and her family move into a new home. They were also provided with furniture, utensils, clothing and food provisions.

Malika, grateful to Allah, said, 'Alhamdulillah that everyone is fine. Not a big deal. We have everything that we need now. Allah is Merciful!' She added that her family survived because everyone was regular in their prayers alhamdulillah.

May Allah reward Ummah Welfare Trust's donors. Ameen.
