    Water Filters

Since the devastating earthquake of 2010, there have been over half a million cholera cases in Haiti. Impure water sources have made Haiti the cholera capital of the world with thousands losing their lives to the disease.

Thanks to your donations, Ummah Welfare Trust distributed ceramic water purifiers to displaced families in Haiti. Water purifiers are containers with a ceramic coating that filters the water from impurities. The purifiers are designed to last for at least 5 years.

Distributions of these water purifiers took place at the Haiti Islam masjid and Delma 33 Kazau refugee camp – both in Port Au Prince. Families were also sought out in the city of Legona, a few hours’ drive from Port Au Prince.

In total, two thousand families received ceramic water purifiers.

    Darul Uloom Haiti

In the town of Chalon, in the district of Miragoane, is Darul Uloom Haiti. No electricity supply meant the madrassah could not function during the dark hours. Alhamdulillah thanks to your donations, solar panels were installed on the roofs of the classrooms, kitchen and boarding house. Inverters were also installed and the staff were provided with training on how to maintain the system.

Alhamdulillah the students at the madrassah will now be able to study and gain ‘ilm in the early hours of the day and in the night.
