British Aid flown directly into Somalia

Ummah Welfare Trust is delivering the Charity’s largest ever relief operation in Somalia.

Response Somalia is a £10 million project that aims to bring thousands of drought-stricken families out of the brink of starvation.

The first of three cargo planes touched down in Mogadishu on Monday morning containing 40 tonnes of emergency food packs, kitchen utensils and tents for 8,000 families.

A cargo vessel will follow, laden with £4.5 million pounds of Emergency aid. This shipment will contain 25,000 emergency food packs, clothing for 8,000 families and 5,000 Shelters.

Ummah Welfare Trust is grateful for the outstanding contribution from the British public. The Trust aims to spend £6 million on emergency aid and another £4 million on long term sustainable projects that will aim to tackle the cycle of poverty, and hope that the support from the British public will continue.
