60 homes handed over to Nowshera flood victims

    NOWSHERA: Some 60 houses constructed by a charity organisation were handed over to flood-hit people at a ceremony here Saturday.

    The houses were constructed by Ummah Welfare Trust in Nowshera Kalan.

    Addressing a public gathering, Minister of State for Local Government and Rural Development Masood Abbas Khattak said that the government was committed to providing all possible assistance to the flood victims.

    He said the affectees would soon receive Rs80,000 through Watan Cards. The minister also lauded the services of the trust.

    Speaking on the occasion, Ummah Welfare Trust Chief Maulana Mohammad Idrees said that construction of the houses had cost Rs500 million. He said Rs1 billion would be spent on construction of houses for the flood-affected people.
