The Ummah Welfare Trust, a United Kingdom-based charity organization, has announced to sacrifice thousands of animals this Eidul Azha and distribute meat among the victims of the unprecedented floods in the history of Pakistan.

According to a press release issued here on Wednesday, a spokesman for the organisation has appealed to the philanthropists all around Pakistan to contribute generously to this noble cause. He said: “This contribution will not only help in fulfilment of the ‘sunnah’ of Hazrat Ibrahim, but will also help those helpless people share the joy and celebration of the occasion, who have been facing the most difficult economic conditions caused by the worst ever calamity in the nation’s history.”

He said: “It is our religious duty to stand by our calamity-hit brethren in Pakistan. Every year we celebrate Eidul Azha in remembrance of the ‘sunnah’ of Hazrat Ibrahim and sacrifice animals at our homes. However, this year our consideration for the flood victims can help create a sense of goodwill among those people that their religious brethren stand by them in this moment of trial and tribulation and share their celebrations with them. This will foster the spirit of sacrifice, which is the core essence of Eid ul Azha.”

He said that UWT has so far distributed relief good worth Rs500 million among the flood victims. The relief operation will continue uninterruptedly after the collective sacrifice on Eidul Azha at the Ummah Children Academy, Nowshera.
