Qurbani 2017

We are now in the days of Hajj, wherein the believers remember the oneness of Allah and the obedience of His khaleel, Sayyiduna Ibrahim 'alayhis-salaam.

These blessed days will culminate in the great act of Qurbani which commemorates the obedience of Ibrahim 'alayhis-salaam, who Allah inspired with offering his son, Isma'il, as a sacrifice to Him.

Following his display of obedience, Allah ransomed Isma'il with a ram which Ibrahim sacrificed instead. And Allah says, 'And We ransomed him with a great sacrifice (i.e. a ram).' [37:107]

In honour of this, Muslims sacrfice animals as an act of worship to Allah. The sacrificing of animals begins from after the Eid prayer (10th Dhul Hijjah) until the last days of tashreeq.

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said,
'Whoever offers a sacrifice after the prayer, has completed his rituals (of Eid) and followed the way of the Muslims.'
    [Sahih al Bukhari]

Ummah Welfare Trust is giving you the chance to offer their Qurbani in one of 18 countries this year. Alhamdulillah, you can fulfil your obligation, and do so while feeding the poor and the forgotten.
