Ramadhan Iftaar 2016

    Ummah Welfare Trust provided Iftaar packs to families in 20 countries this year. Over a million Muslims benefited from your generosity.


    Your donations this year supported 30,000 families in Kandahar, Afghanistan, and 18,000 families across the districts of KPK, Punjab, and Kashmir, in Pakistan.

    In Bangladesh, over 1,100 families received Iftaar packs, with rice forming the bulk of the provisions. Five thousand families in Nepal, still reeling from last year's earthquake, and 7,500 families across Burma (including many Rohingya), also received staples of rice, flour and oil.

    And in the Far East, over 1,400 families in Mindanao, Philippines, received rice, oil and local staples, alhamdulillah. Hundreds more families here were give cooked Iftaar meals daily through the month.

    Middle East

    Over 2,000 displaced families across South West Yemen, including many Eritrean refugees, received Iftaar provisions, alhamdulillah. While in Iraq, 2,000 families displaced across Kirkuk, Erbil and Sulaymania were supported.

    In Gaza, a cooked Iftaar programme was implemented. Over 4,500 meals were prepared and delivered to families. Moreover, a further 1,600 families received dry food packs.

    The largest of Ummah Welfare Trust's Middle East programmes took place in Syria, where over 38,000 families received your support for Ramadhan.

    Families in Idlib, Aleppo, Hama, and across besieged areas of Ghouta, Darayya, Moadamiyeh and Qalamoun, benefitted from your contributions, alhamdulillah.


    Over 5,000 families in Chad, who had escaped violence Nigeria and the Central African Republic, were given provisions of maize, rice and oil. At the same time, Iftaar provisions were delivered to hundreds of rural families in Senegal and Gambia.

    Across the continent in Somalia, over 1,800 families across Banadir received rice, flour, oil and dates; while similar provisions were provided to 1,000 drought-hit families further north in Somaliland.

    In Sudan, hundreds of displaced families in Kassala and 5,000 hungry families in Malawi received staples of maize and beans.


    Nine hundred families in Chechnya, and around 600 families Albania, also received your support this Ramadhan. Recipients of Iftaar packs were widowed and orphaned families, alhamdulillah.
