Wells in the Philippines (through 2015)

Most families in the developing world gain access to water for drinking, washing, and cooking by using groundwater. Pumps, which lift water to the surface, are ideal therefore for meeting families' needs.

They are relatively low-cost, easy to maintain, and allow the water source to remain sealed, thereby ensuring relatively clean, unpolluted water.

So far this year, Ummah Welfare Trust has installed 243 water wells (with pumps) in the Philippines, bringing clean water to over 4,000 families.

Alhamdulillah, many communities now have safe water to drink and face reduced risks of sickness and disease.

The free wells have also reduced expenses for families, who previously, due to the scarcity of safe drinking water, would pay for water.

Another 415 water wells will be installed across the southern Philippines by the end of the year, inshaAllah.

May Allah accept the support of donors, whose generosity has helped quench the thirst of thousands of our brothers and sisters.

Sa'ad bin 'Ubadah RadhyAllahu 'anh asked, 'O Messenger of Allah (SallAllahu 'alayhi wasallam) what kind of charity is best?' He said, 'Providing drinking water.'
