Free Cataract Surgery in Pakistan

Alhamdulillah, with your donations, Ummah Welfare Trust is providing free cataract surgery to elderly persons across Pakistan.

Free eye camps have been set up in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab, with a total of 400 surgeries being carried out.

Surgeries have taken place in Rawalpindi, Nowshera and Wana, South Waziristan. Many of the patients were Zakah-eligible and so have benefitted hugely from the free programme.

Globally, cataracts are the single largest cause of blindness. Programmes like these, therefore, are hugely important, bringing much-needed relief to poor elderly persons, as well as great reward for donors.
