Other Ramadhan Projects

Pakistan

Ummah Welfare Trust paid towards the sponsorship of 491 orphans in Pakistan & Kashmir and 256 orphans in Afghanistan, at a cost of £120 each, bringing the total disbursed to £89,640.

Afghanistan

Ummah Welfare Trust paid towards the cost of constructing a Masjid in the capital of Afghanistan, Kabul, at a cost of £7,500.

India

As part of the flood relief work in India, UWT funded the cost of the construction of 15 houses for the poorest of the poor which included widows, the physically challenged and the economically marginalised in Cuttack City, an area in Orissa, India affected greatly by the recent floods. UWT also paid towards the repairing of 30 dilapidated houses. Total cost: £10,000.

UWT carried out an animal sacrifice in India on behalf of a donor. Cost: £30.

Bangladesh

UWT, as part of the Post-Flood Rehabilitation Programme in Bangladesh, paid £10,000 – a third of the total needed – towards the construction and repair of 55 homes to cater for the homeless and distressed families in the Netrokona, Kishoregonj, Sunamgonj, Habigonj and Sylhet districts.

Burma

An Orphanage is being run in Burma by UWT catering for around 150 children comprising mainly orphans and children from very poor families. The children are taught Islamic education and food, clothing and bedding is provided. Monthly cost: £1,000.
