Water
Shortage in AfricaThe
provision of water is more important than providing food, as life is
more dependant on water. UWT aims to purchase and put into operation
a Deep-well Boring Rig in Africa by mid 2008.
The cost of a rig is £150,000.
This mobile unit enables
digging as many wells as needed even in drought-stricken areas.
The cost of a well dug after the purchase of a rig in
Africa is at least £10,000, we hope to take contracts from
governments so that we can balance it out. The cost of a well dug
with a hired one can cost up to £20,000.
The
knowledgeable people of Madinah (the companions of the Prophet and
those who studied under them) did not consider any form of charity
as having greater merit than providing water.
