Water Boring Rig (Africa)
Water Shortage in AfricaWater Shortage in Africa

The provision of water is more important than providing food, as life is more dependant on water. UWT aims to purchase and put into operation a Deep-well Boring Rig in Africa by mid 2008.

The cost of a rig is £150,000. This mobile unit enables digging as many wells as needed even in drought-stricken areas. The cost of a well dug after the purchase of a rig in Africa is at least £10,000, we hope to take contracts from governments so that we can balance it out. The cost of a well dug with a hired one can cost up to £20,000.

The knowledgeable people of Madinah (the companions of the Prophet and those who studied under them) did not consider any form of charity as having greater merit than providing water.

Listen to a Hadith*

Hadith

The Prophet (Peace be upon him) has said: "A servant says: My wealth, my wealth, but out of his wealth three things are only his: whatever he eats and makes use of, or by means of which he dresses himself and it wears out or he gives as charity, and this is what he stored for himself (as a reward for the Hereafter), and what is beyond this (it is of no use to you) because you are to depart and leave it for other people.."
