Teach
a Child the Holy QuranPreserving
Islam in its true form for our future generations is the duty of
every Muslim, rich or poor. One of the most effective methods of
fulfilling this obligation is the provision of Maktab (Islamic
schooling) services. With the current state of the Muslim Ummah,
never has there been a greater need to make certain each and every
Muslim child, wherever they may be, has received a firm grounding in
their faith.
Every person is required to
know the fundamentals of their faith, with the Prophet (peace be
upon him) saying, ‘Seeking (essential) knowledge is compulsory upon
every Muslim.’
Hifz is the memorization of the
Qur'an. The Hifz course usually lasts three years: in which time the
student also learns the basic essentials which would allow him to
lead prayers. The Hifz course sponsorship caters for providing a
student the means to complete this three year course.
The Prophet (peace be upon him) also emphasised the
importance of providing education stating, ‘The best amongst you is
the one who learns the Quran and teaches it.’
(al-Bukhari, at-Tirmidhi).
The way this effects the
donor is through the provision of its means. The Prophet of Allah
(peace be upon him) has said, "The one who shows the way to do good
(thus, even more so, one who provides the means) is as the performer
of it."
(at-Tirmidhi, Abu Dawud, Ahmad, and
al-Bukhari in al-Adab al-Mufrad)
