Indonesia was just recovering from the overpowering Tsunami that struck in December 2004, when another devastating earthquake hit the Central Java area on 27 May 2005. This left over 5,000 people dead, up to 1.5 million people homeless and approximately 140,000 homes were destroyed. Indonesia was again left with an overwhelming burden of loss and sadness. The earthquake caused more widespread destruction than initially thought and the needs of the people affected were colossal. UWT’s representative assessed the situation and provided:

• 1000 families with food aid over a period of two and a half months.

Hadith

The Prophet (Peace be upon him) has said: "This wealth consists of various kinds of treasures and those treasures have keys. Blessed is the man whom Allah has made a key for good and a lock for evil, but woe to the man whom Allah has made a key for evil and a lock for good."

(Al-Tirmidhi)
