Bangladesh Cyclone Appeal
The Prophet (Peace be upon him) has said: "Whosoever relieves from a Believer some grief pertaining to this world, Allah will relieve from him some grief pertaining to the Hereafter. Whosoever alleviates the difficulties of a needy person who cannot pay his debt, Allah will alleviate his difficulties in both this world and the Hereafter. Whosoever conceals the faults of a Muslim, Allah will conceal his faults in this world and the Hereafter. Allah will aid a servant (of His) so long as the servant aids his brother." (Muslim)

UWT Update 28/11/2007

With the help of our partner charities Ummah Welfare Trust have helped provide food and medicine to 3690 Cyclone Sidr Victims.

Our assistance has so far reached 6 villages in 4 districts:

Kuacatta, Bamna, Pathagatha & Amtali in the Barguna District, which is the most affected district due to being on the Bay of Bengal coastline, Kuacatta is on the coastline of the Bay of Bengal and has been completely destroyed with thousands homeless.

We have managed to reach out to the Sarankhola & Monga villages in Bagerhat District and also to the Pirojpur & Patuakhali Districts.

As the death toll rises and more information is filtering through about the numbers of families affected, we continue to urge people to donate generously. The response to this crisis has been great but a lot of work is still left to do to help the Ummah in crisis.

We will start Phase Two of the appeal to re-house people and initiate the Livelihood Recovery programme.
