Cyclone Victims Receive Aid

"Today, I visited Hlain Tar Yar. I have provided rice bags to 21 families and gave the poor food allowances. In Shwe Pyi Tar district we distributed food aid to 100 families. The situation on the ground is very critical and the burial of thousands is one of the key priorities." (UWT Burma Fieldworker)

Cyclone Nargis has left over 200,00 people dead and millions homeless. UWT has launched an Emergency Appeal for the victims and allocated an initial £100,000. A UWT representative will be flying out in the next few days.

UWT has been operating in Burma for over three years, with fieldworkers on the ground, it is in a unique position to deliver Emergency Aid. The first phase of the relief program has started on the ground with the initial assessment. Food packets, medicines and temporary shelter kits continue to be distributed and further funds are required to initiate medium and long term projects.

Please donate generously. Your support will Insha'Allah save lives and regenerate the livelihood of the Burmese people.
